Cupping: the gentle cupping massage

Cupping: the gentle cupping massage

Cupping is often referred to as a new variant of the well-known cupping in the relevant literature guide. But the differences to what is commonly thought of as cupping are far-reaching
What is cupping
The term cupping is not a generally accepted definition. Here he refers to a new form of a special type of massage, which is also known as cupping or cupping massage. It is supposed to have a relaxing and pain-relieving effect by stimulating the fascia: cupping cups fitted with negative pressure - when cupping it is silicone bells (cups) - are pushed or pulled over the skin

What are fascia

The soft connective tissue of the fascia envelops the muscles and gives stability. In the normal state, it adapts to the physical movements and remains elastic. However, if the fasciae are injured, they matt and stick together, which can lead to tension, restricted mobility and muscle pain

The targeted loosening of the fascia by massages of the affected body regions should bring back the mobility. A common method for this is the use of Faszienrollen, Faszienrollern or Fascia balls, which is often perceived as unpleasant. Cupping is expected to produce similar results with less effort

How does Cupping work
* The negative pressure created in the cups is intended to release tension, promote blood circulation, stimulate the lymphatic flow and thus provide relief in the case of discomfort in a wide variety of body regions. Modern silicone cups have the advantage that this negative pressure can be regulated very easily: the more you squeeze the silicone, the stronger the negative pressure

Whether back, legs or face - the cups are available in different sizes and can therefore be used directly on areas affected by tension. While smaller cups are best for the neck or face, larger ones are more suitable for the back or legs
What does Cupping help with
There are no scientific studies on cupping. The relevant literature on counseling reports good experiences with cupping with tension on the back, stress-related tension or as a gentle facial massage

The possibilities are manifold. Incidentally, the English term "facial cupping" or the more precise "face-cupping" refers to cosmetic applications that are supposed to reduce cellulite or wrinkles
What is the difference between cupping and cupping
The ancient healing method of cupping was already used by the ancient Greeks and Egyptians in antiquity and is also used for example in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to this day

One distinguishes the "bloody" and the "dry" cupping. In bloody cupping, a cupping glass was (and is) placed on a scored skin site with negative pressure, pulling the blood out of the injured area

Cupping - better than his reputation

In the meantime, cupping has fallen into disrepute. Cupping has even entered the general idiom as a negative idiom, meaning that someone has been over-subscribed. This is probably because most people think of cupping as "bloody cupping"

Cupping, on the other hand, is an advanced form of "dry" cupping - especially cupping massage or cupping massage - for which cupping heads are placed on intact body parts

In classic cupping glass, they are heated before setting; when they cool, it creates a negative pressure, the skin is pulled upwards, the underlying tissue stretched
What's new about Cupping
When cupping, the cupping heads are made of silicone and are simply compressed by hand before being placed on the skin. The necessary negative pressure thus arises purely mechanically instead of heat, which on the one hand means a much simpler application and on the other hand can feel much more pleasant

Through the practical silicone cups, the massages can be carried out without much effort. The "trick", however, is the combination of this new form of dry cupping or cupping massage with relaxing massage techniques and findings on fascia training, a trend that is still very much in the pursuit of sports
